
Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her first big break came with her performance as Tina in the film Do the Right Thing (1989), followed by White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez was nominated for the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fearless (1993). Perez has appeared in a variety of films since the time with some of them being It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another for her character in The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). She has also appeared in stage shows on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. She also co-hosted on the ABC talk show The View during the series in the 18th season. She was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. The year 1999 was the year her mother was living in the middle class of Woodside Houses when she died from complications arising from AIDS.
