Heidi Watney, born May 19, 1981 Heidi Watney was born on May 19, 1981. She is an American sportscaster as well as a reporter for Apple TV+. Her previous experience as a sportscaster includes work at the University of San Diego, New England Sports Network (Boston), Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Los Angeles), and two stations located in Fresno. Watney was a Clovis West High School student in Fresno. She competed in gymnastics in hurdles, diving, and gymnastics. She was an National Merit Scholar, and she was accepted into the University of San Diego as an academic scholarship. She graduated with distinction in 2003. 2 Watney has participated in the Miss California USA pageant, in which she was the initial winner in 2002. Watney is the cousin of professional golfer Nick Watney. Seven years ago, Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel, stated that Watney was his name and he created the character Mark Watney from it. He saw her name during a Red Sox broadcast. Watney appears in the music video of Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style".
